A Nice Day in the Suburbs…

A Room With No DVD Player
I babysit a five year old on the weekends. His mom, my cousin, doesn’t get home til late because she is a bar tender. I sleep in one of her spare bedrooms. The TV in that room doesn’t have cable or a DVD player. What it does have is a VHS player attached to the actual TV. Since I’ve been babysitting for a couple weeks now I brought a couple of my personal VHS’s from home. So I spent this weekend watching Perfect Blue, Akira, Anchorman, and Urban Legends. I can honestly say that it was a fantastic time. I forgot how much I love all of those movies. Perfect Blue was totally ripped off by Black Swan. People who don’t believe that Chronicle is related to Akira the animation (not the manga) are blind. Sure there were no old children in Neo Tokyo, but there are plenty of similarities. I believe Chronicle isn’t a direct copy because it wouldn’t make sense to Americans. Anchorman is hilarious, I love Brick Tamland. Urban Legends was one of the first VHS’s I ever owned. A single tear runs down my cheek. Memories

3 Years
For the last three years I was with Prince Charming. I didn’t want to break his heart so I told him most of my faults. I told him I’d cheat one day, that I am inconsiderate to others feelings, and a bit of a jerk. Prince Charming being the person that he is said love would be enough to get us past all those things. I reluctantly went along with his madness. Well, turns out Prince Charming is a cheater who doesn’t consider others feelings, therefore acted like a jerk. He just lied about it.

I loved the Tiny Toons as a kid. One of the first TAPES I ever owned was Tiny Toons Sing! This was a personal favorite because I’m corny like that. What a gay I am.

Real-Life Drama
People can trust just about anyone. In my case, I do. But even the people closest to you will lie to you.

The Hunger Games
I just got home from a midnight showing of The Hunger Games. Did I love it? Yes, I did. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, and virtually everyone in this cast helped to make a truly engaging story. Now, I’m a fan of Battle Royale. This is a banned Japanese movie from 2000 that I saw in high school. In it, a group of Japanese school kids are put on an island and given a set period of time to kill each other off, as per Government order. This is very close to the synopsis of The Hunger Games. Other than that likeness, I found this movie to be pretty original. I loved the characters, the pace, and the action. I completely recommend this movie to everyone, cept children for obvious reasons. Thank you movies for finally making something worth my $11.

Melvin in the Tower - Part 11
The well dressed boy, Lukas, sat in a full lukewarm tub. He was in the middle of his daily morning wash. A full time nanny cooked breakfast for the boy in a lush kitchen down the hall. His parents had already left for the day. He was all alone in the bathroom. Lukas thought he imagined a change in the waters temperature. It suddenly seemed hotter.
Without much worry, Lukas began to wash himself as a thick layer of steam arose from the water. Lukas could not understand how it was possible for the tub to be heating. His tiny brain refrained him from seeking help. The dull boy continued his wash himself with a bubbly shampoo. His eyes were closed when he noticed movement in the water.
Lukas frantically tried to rinse the poo from his hair. Bubbles began to rise along with the temperature of the water. The boy began to panic. He went to jump out of the tub to safety. Something was holding his legs. He instinctively shrieked. The nanny ran to his aid but was unable to open the door.
“Lukas unlock this door!” The nanny said in a terrified tone. “This isn’t funny young man!” Lukas only wished he could. The water in the tub started to rumble. Lukas’s eyes began to burn from the dripping shampoo. He was in agonizing pain. A dark round shadow began to rise in front of him. Lukas could barely see it. “Lukas relax, it’s just a game.” said a small raspy voice. Lukas screamed as the water boiled furiously. Nothing could survive such extreme heat.
